People welcome to Creation Odyssey, my little corner of the interwebs where I share all the tips, tricks, ups, and downs, and more downs of trying to balance being a self-taught artist, doing the mom thing. Looking for my guys tie, shoes, keys and whatever else he can’t find before he leaves for work. Some of you are new here and some of you are like, “Wait didn’t this blog start like 3 years ago?”.
It did three years ago I decided after all the frustration of trying to find the right books, classes, tools, heck just basic information. That other people out there are more than likely doing the same thing. So I started a blog, and then I had to get a job (because tiny people are Expensive!!!). Then I got promoted, and then I got burnt out, I messed up big at work, and then right after Christmas I was relieved of my life as a completely stressed out H-O-T-T mess working mom who was trying desperately to focus on everything all at once all the time and ended up focusing on nothing. For those of you rockstar moms that can do it, I bow down to you, I honor you, I commend you for being the awesome woman that you are!
Now I have time to focus, now that I’m juggling the responsibility of one less thing in my life. I wanted to start blogging again. Because trust me all though I’m not where I want to be, I definitely have learned ALOT! Taking a look at my blog, it was choppy, inconsistent, and wasn’t doing or saying what I wanted it to. I deleted all my old post, made a new header, change the design, and I’m now ready to begin sharing my journey once again.
From now on this blog, you will find weekly tips and tricks about being a self-taught artist, reviews on classes I take, books I read, and many other fine art related things. Wait there’s more, because I like learning and creating all kinds of things I decided not to limit the journey just to illustration. I mean there is plenty for me to talk about (there’s entire degrees dedicated just to Illustration), but I can be creative in as many things as I want right? Creating with polymer clay, dollhouse kits, reclaiming my own artistic clothing style, and so much more. Creation Odyssey is going to be about all of those things, just being creative, having fun, and taking off the chains of mindless limitations and standards.
I’m starting from the top building my foundation, the correct way this time. Enjoying every moment of my journey, check back each week to learn from all of my victories and well all of my mistakes too.
